Quillaia Saponins


Quillaja saponins are derived from the Chilean endemic tree Quillaja saponaria Molina (soap tree, Bois de Panama, quillaia). They are non-ionic surfactants widely used in foods and beverages as natural foaming agents and emulsifiers and are available in liquid or powder form.

Applications: Quillaja Extracts are natural surfactants with excellent foaming properties. Main uses include foaming and emulsifying agent for the food, beverage and cosmetic industries.

 

Regulatory: Quillaja saponaria Mol. is approved for use in Food and Beverages by the FDA under 21 CFR 172.150, FEMA GRAS number 2973. It is approved for use in the European Union in water-based non-alcoholic drinks, under code E999. Current CAS number 68990-67-0.
